Update From the Board

The Board of Trustees will be meeting twice in the month of June to wrap up the 2017-2018 school year and to set new goals for 2018-2019.

The Board’s regular monthly meeting will be held at Polaris Charter School on June 21st, starting at 6 PM.  The agenda will include the completion of our Director’s evaluation and a self-assessment of the Board’s work on governance and fiscal responsibilities for Polaris. Also, Jen Murdock-Smith will be sharing the preliminary results of the parent survey and the Annual Report, which is required from all public charter schools as an accountability measure for the Department of Education.

On June 24th, the Board will be engaged in a strategic planning workshop from 4-7 PM. (The location of this workshop and the facilitator are still to be determined.) The workshop will enable the Board to focus on the data reviewed during their June 21st meeting to determine appropriate and necessary goals for the upcoming school year. Once these are approved by the Board of Trustees, the goals will be made public.


Parent Survey

If you have not done so already, please take a couple of minutes to compete our annual parent survey. It is very important that we hear from everyone. This is your chance to have a voice in our plans for next school year.



Game A Thon

Our annual fundraiser was held at the beautiful LaBelle Winery. We had amazing food (my personal favorite was the macaroni and cheese bar), drinks and fun! Playing games was not required but it was a great way to mingle with others and spark conversation. It also raised money to support our students and teachers. Thank you to everyone who participated. I would especially like to thank Sharon Klardie for all of her hard work planning and organizing this event!

Miss Haynes’s and Mrs. Vlasich’s Field Trip

Miss Haynes and Mrs. Vlasich’s class had a great time visiting the Massabesic Audubon Center! Students explored the outdoors for native plants and insects, learned about the food chain and got to meet some of the animals!

Primary Field Trip

The Primary Class’s enjoyed their visit to the Montshire Museum! They learned about The Digestive System, The Respiratory System and The Cardiovascular System. This was a nice addition to their trimester learning. Students also got the opportunity to explore the exhibits at the museum! 



Core Value Determination

Sculptor Class Share

 The Sculptor Class has been working on life cycles of animals and volcano’s. The students have also been working on how to become better presenters. Students shared some information about their life cycle as well as including a hook and a cliff hanger into their presentation. Many of the students wanted to leave their audience with a desire to come see their project during the Learning Celebration.

Vela Class Share

The Vela Class shared the first page of each of their Journey Stories. They each had to write a story about a journey that they have taken in their lives. They had to include an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion.

Star Students

Our Star Students recognized so far this month were:

School Calendar Changes

Due to the number of school cancellations, we have made the following adjustments to our calendar:

 The third trimester Learning Celebrations have been moved from June 6th/7th to June 13th/14th

We now have school June 15th, 18th, 19th and 20th (regular early release day)

Our last scheduled day is June 20th.

Parent/Teacher/Student conferences will take place the afternoon of June 20th and on June 21st

PEF News

Polaris Annual Picnic – JUNE, 23rd starting at 12PM

The PEF annual picnic is set for June 23rd, 12PM at Clough State Park, Weare, NH. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a splashing good time with current and new Polaris families. A Polaris “hub” meeting area will be established, so new families can be introduced and friendships can begin to unfold. Bring all the towels, sunscreen, food and beach chairs you need to make this a great event. This is a great event for our new families to come join and meet next year’s classmates. The PEF is always looking forward to meeting new families and introducing them to the Polaris family.

Polaris Educational Foundation (PEF) is our version of a PTO

The next PEF meeting is set for June 12 at 7:00 PM at Polaris. At this meeting we will vote in the new officials.
