Information Session

Our last scheduled Information Session is Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm.  If your student is interested in being a tour guide please contact Nancy.

Core Value – Acceptance

Week before last, we watched the first five minutes of Martin Luther King, J.’s  speech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smEqnnklfYs and then we watched our favorite “president” (Kids President) speak about the importance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x69xdlzczSs.

Last week, we read the book “Strictly No Elephants” by Lisa Mantchev. It was a story about respecting differences and including others. We also listened to two songs by Peter, Paul and Mary. The first was “Right Field” and you can listen to it here.  The second was called “Don’t Laugh at Me.” Students reflected on the lyrics message as well as the feelings that they illustrated.

Star Students

Our Star Students recognized on January 16 were: Ella, Kayella, Lamija, River, Serena, Sophia, Gwenan and Molly.

Congratulations!

Pavo Class Share

The Pavo Class presented their week’s share on Martin Luther King Jr. After listening to class readings and participating in class discussions each student chose a word to describe Martin Luther King Jr. Some of the words they used were unique, kind, observant, passionate and inspiring. Then they wrote what their personal dream or dream for the world is and made an illustration to go with it.

“I have a dream where I’m a professional Boxer, part-time Engineer, and a good cook.”
“I have a dream to go to MIT for college.”
“I have a dream that everyone will be treated fairly, no matter their size, or looks.”
“I have a dream that there will be more acceptance than not, and that there will be World Peace.”

Perseus Class Share

The Perseus Class shared about the upcoming book fair. The students watched a short video with authors talking about their books and the writing process.
