Update From the Board

The next meeting of the Board of Trustees will be Monday, November 27th, starting at 6 PM.  One of the most important items on our agenda will be a second reading and discussion of our Bullying Policy.  The Board still has much work to do before this policy will be ready for approval, but members of the public may find the discussion very interesting.  The policy, which is required by NH State Law,  details how bullying incidents should be defined and resolved at Polaris Charter School.  A time for comments from the public is reserved at the beginning of the meeting, but the entire meeting is open to the public.

Information Session

Our first Information Session was held Wednesday, November 15th. Thirteen families were in attendance. Our student tour guides did an amazing job talking about their experience at Polaris. Please help pass the word about our school! Our next Information Session is January 20th at 10:30 am.

The whole school traveled to The Founders Academy to watch their production of the musical “The Story of Cinderella” directed by Jane Cormier.  The cast and crew put on a fabulous performance and a couple of our students were even included to try on the glass slipper. Most importantly, Polaris students did an incredible job of being attentive and respectful listeners.

Core Value – Citizenship

During the month of November, we will be discussing our Core Value of Citizenship. We began with talking about Veteran’s Day and watching a short video. You can view it here.

We also talked about the Declaration of Independence and made our own Declaration of Good Citizenship.

Finally, we shared things we are grateful for. Many students said family, friends and teachers. Others were thinking about their upcoming meal. One student expressed that he was thankful for pain. When asked to explain further, his response was without it he would not appreciate joy.

Star Students

Our Star Students recognized on November 6th were:  Abdullah, Aiden, Avery, Jerzee, Katie, Sydney, Teagan W. and Wendy.

And Stars celebrated on the 20th were: Elias, Ella, Delaney, Julia, Maryam, Molly, and Ryan K.

Perseus Class Share

Students in Mrs. Apac’s class learned about Native American culture during Social Studies work. Part of Native American culture is the belief in spirit animals. We studied spirit animals and took an online quiz so determine our own in correspondence with our Trimester theme of All About Me. Students then created the spirit animals that were shared using whatever medium they chose. These were later incorporated into their Totem Poles, another important part of Native culture.

Sculptor Class Share

Mr. Baily’s class has been writing short stories and they shared their summaries and book covers.
