Update From the Board
The Board of Trustees will be meeting this coming Monday evening, October 16, 2017, at 6 PM. Included on the agenda will be updates on the Board and Administration’s Goals for 2017-2018, a report from our Director on the school’s most recent test results, a discussion of hosting another “Open Forum” for parents and others on a topic to be determined, and the first reading of the Board’s Bullying Policy. A minimum of two public readings of new policies are required before they are approved. Members of the public are always welcome to attend the Board’s regular monthly meetings, which are held on the third Monday at 6 PM in the Basement Office. Opportunity for public comment is reserved at the beginning of each meeting.
Governor and Council Meeting
While Governor Sununu and the Executive Council typically holds their meetings at the State House, their October 11th meeting was held at The Founders Academy Charter School. Dean Mooney invited other NH charter schools to attend and I, as well as other charter school leaders had the opportunity to speak about our school and mission.
We had an amazing performance by TIGER from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH. TIGER stands for “Theatre Integrating Guidance, Education and Responsibility” and is a professional educational theatre company that tours throughout New England with performances based on the writing of children about difficult social issues due to bullying behavior. The kids all seamed to love the presentation and were really responsive to interacting and even helping the actors. The event was great and made us all aware on how to be more like a “TIGER”! Thank you Polaris Educational Foundation for organizing and sponsoring this.
Core Value – Respect
During the month of October, we will be talking about the Core Value of Respect.
Camilla, Ella S., Dylan, Johnny, Maddie W, Nadia and Nadia were our Star Student honored the first week of October.
Please remember to cut and save these! This is a really easy way to raise money for the school on items that you purchase anyway. If anyone is interested in helping us gather and submit them, please let me know.
Vela Class Share
Mrs. Fesh’s class shared 3 things from the “favorites” section of our All About Me posters.
Pegasus Class Share
Our class created beetle glyphs to convey important information about ourselves. Students had to follow a legend to carefully assemble and decorate their beetle using the criteria specified by the legend. We then organized the beetles by different criteria (ex: our favorite seasons) and made graphs together on the computer to display our class data. Visit https://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/graphing/classic/bar.asp to have your child create a bar graph of their own!
