From the Board of Trustees

Thank you to all who helped with the Board’s first participation in the International #GivingTuesday campaign.  With over 30 separate donations and matching individual  and corporate funds, we raised $5,710. This is a great start to our annual fundraising campaign to support Polaris Charter School.  Please continue to spread the word and invite family and friends to make an end-of-year, tax deductible contribution, if they haven’t done so already.  Donations can be made through PayPal on the school’s webpage.

The next Board meeting is Tuesday, December 20th, at 6PM.  Members of the public are always welcome. Public comments are invited at the beginning of the meeting.

Core Value – Citizenship

We wrapped up our discussion of Citizenship this week. We also took some time to review the school wide rules that we created at the beginning of the year. Our Core Value for December is Caring. To help demonstrate that, once again we have adopted a family in need for the holidays. You should be receiving an email from your child’s teacher regarding the age, gender and wish list for the member your child’s classroom is focusing on. The full list is below. This year’s family does not even have beds! Please have your donations in by Friday, December 16th. Thank you!

Perseus Class Share

Ms. Perham’s class began teaching on another new song called “Jaws” (or Baby Shark as others know it). It has fun lyrics and great handmotions that will be a wonderful addition to our song choices for Morning Gathering!

Celebrating a Trimester of Learning

This coming week is the culmination of a lot of hard work. Please join us to celebrate!

Our Primary classes have been studying Wampanoag Native American history, habitat, culture and the first thanksgiving with Pilgrim settlers. Students and their families are invited to the Gathering Room on Wednesday, December 7th from 6:00-7:00 pm.

The celebration will continue on Thursday, Dec 8th  from 5:30-7:00 pm when our Intermediate classes will take us back in history to ancient times.

PEF News

All parents are invited to our next PEF Meeting on Monday, December 5th at 7pm at the school.  We have many exciting things going on and are eager to have parent input.

After School Enrichments

We are actively looking for parent volunteers to run enrichment courses. If you have a skill you’d like to share with the students at Polaris please email us at pefenrichment@gmail.com. Some ideas that have been suggested in the past are sewing, astronomy, and programming, but all ideas are welcome!

PEF Auction– The PEF Auction Planning Committee will be having a meeting at the Bedford Panera on Tuesday, December 6th at 7pm.  The Committee could use parent volunteers as well as parental input as this event is planned.  Please attend if you are able.

Polaris Game Day– The PEF is excited to announce a Game Day! This fun event will be held on January 14, 2017 at 10am.

Pizza Ordering Reminder– Please use the order forms.  If for some reason you are not able to use the form, it is very important that you include your child’s NAME, CLASS, and # of pizza slices with the money that you turn in.  Otherwise, your order may not be placed correctly and your child is likely to be disappointed. Thank you!

School Spirit Wear– School Spirit Wear is now available on line. Choose sizes from toddler to 5X. This year’s selection includes great customization options as well as new options such as coffee mugs and winter hats. There is no deadline to order. The school store is here year round. However, each order is customized and can take up to 14 days to process and complete.  We recommend you make all holiday orders at least 20 days in advance.  The store has available special custom options including shirts that say Polaris Mom, Grandma, Uncle or Dad will make a great gift for the holidays! Order any time:
