Year End Surveys
At the end of every year, Polaris Charter School and our PEF want to hear your opinions on what we are doing well and where we can improve. It is important to have your voice heard. Please take a minute to fill out BOTH surveys. For the Polaris school survey, please fill out one for each child who attends here. Thank you!
Staff Appreciation Lunch
Polaris staff enjoyed a delicious lunch thanks to our wonderful parents. They set up a classroom decorated with posters made by students as well as tables decorated with table cloths and pretty flowers (and even grown up chairs!). We put business aside for a time and enjoyed some relaxing social time as a staff. Thank you so much!
This week, we read a short story about a boy who noticed a blade of grass growing between the baseboard and floor of a porch and reflected on the strength it had to grow in such an unusual place. Later that day as he was struggling with his math homework and wanted to give up, he thought of that blade of grass and kept pushing himself. We all have times when we feel we are not good at something but we just need to keep trying!
On Thursday, we had a friendly competition at Morning Gathering to see who had the most determination. Everyone held a cube of ice in their hand and the challenge was to see who would be able to hold on to it until it melted. Students could not switch hands or use any other means to melt it. The trick to melting it the fastest was to hold it as tightly as possible which was also the most difficult to do. No one gave up and Amana’s melted the fastest.
Our students recognized for persevering at Polaris were: Bindhi, Haya, Joey, Maverick, Taya, Temperance and Wren.
Mr. Solis’s Class Share
The children held up the Route 66 inspired signs/ pictures/models that they made this week during project time. They sang along with and did a line dance to the song “Route 66”. They then shared their projects and explained what they were and how they related to route 66.
Look For Library Books
The end of the year is coming up fast, so now’s the time to think about returning books to the school library. Most, but not all of our books have a sticker on the back that says “Property of Polaris Charter School Library.” If you find other books at your house that you don’t recognize as belonging to your household, please ask your kids if they came from the school library.
If you’d like to add to our library, please take a look at the library book wish list here:
In an attempt to streamline the donation process for families and for the school, we have set up wish lists on the websites for NE Paper & Supply and Amazon.com. Follow the links below to see the items we need. You can order online and they will ship directly to the school. In addition, Polaris will get money back from both sites. NE Paper & Supply will give us 10% credit for every item ordered. Amazon.com gives us 0.5% towards Polaris on every order placed through Amazon Smile. You can increase the benefits even more by ordering an Amazon card through the SCRIP program. Thank you to everyone who supports our school! If you have any questions, feel free to contact Michelle Mathieu in the Front Office at 603-634-0034.

June PEF Meeting – Thursday, June 11th, 7 PM at the school
We will hold elections for the 2015-2016 PEF Board, Thursday June 11th at 7:00, as we now have volunteers for every PEF Board position!
But that doesn’t mean we don’t need YOU! We still need committee members and volunteers. The Board can’t do it on their own. Bring your ideas, tell us about your skills, interests and talents. Together we can make next year the best PEF year yet!
In order to run the after school enrichment program next year, the PEF is looking for an individual who will volunteer to keep things running smoothly during the school year. Arielle is willing to do most of the planning over the summer, and put together a brochure. For more details on this opportunity, email Brianna and Ali at email@example.com. Without a volunteer for this crucial role, there will not be Enrichment programs for the 2015-2016 school year.
End of Year Picnic – Saturday, June 6th noon to 4:00pm at Elm Brook Park (Rain date June 7th)
The PEF is collecting shoes until the evening of Wednesday, June 3rd (Learning Celebration night). Click here for the list of acceptable items. This is a fundraiser, so if you’re cleaning out closets and find shoes included on the list, bring them to Polaris!
