Core Value – Diversity/Acceptance
Students in Mrs. Rainey’s class completed a mini-project during the last week. They worked in pairs to research ‘celebrations around the world’ that occur around this time of year. These included: Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Eid-al Adha and Chinese New Year. The students presented some information about each at Morning Gathering on Tuesday. Later in the day, we were able to view their projects displayed in their classroom. This was a perfect segue from our Core Value of Kindness/Caring to January’s Core Value of Diversity and Acceptance.
I would like to invite any parent, grandparent or student to visit our classrooms during January to share information about their culture, customs, special holidays or history. Please contact Jen if you are interested.
We are of course a nation of differences. Those differences don’t make us weak. They’re the source of our strength – Jimmy Carter
Ms. Haynes Share Day
Students in Ms. Haynes class have been studying the 1700’s. To correspond with that, they wrote and filmed a play re-enacting the signing of the Declaration of Independence which we watched at Morning Gathering on Monday.
The New Hampshire Liberty Alliance (NHLA) Civic Action Fund has launched an online fundraiser for our playground safety needs, specifically for the safety bollards! They have pledged to contribute $1,200 in matching funds. About $800 has been raised so far so we still have a ways to go.
Please also share this link today or tomorrow on your facebook pages, twitter, etc!

Primary students had a great time decorating gingerbread houses on Monday. We also had an adorable visitor – Mrs. Fesh’s son Alex! The children were as excited to meet him as they were to make their houses. Thank you to the volunteers that assisted.
This week’s students that showed caring and kindness were: Ayla, Emma, Evan, Lasya, Torrey, Tazha and Tia. Nice job!
The PEF is still collecting shoes, so feel free to bring in gently used shoes if you or your child get new ones for the holidays. It’s a way for us to raise funds without asking anyone to spend money!
