Caring and Kindness

Holiday Cheer

Holiday Cheer

This month, the Polaris community joined together to help a family celebrate this season of giving. Toiletries, clothing and gifts were donated for a single father with 10 kids and one grandchild. These children did not make ‘wishlists’ because they knew that their dad could not afford presents. When pressed for ideas, their response was if any money was raised, they wanted it go toward a camera for their father.  With help from families and staff we were able to purchase this.  Thank you all for your generosity.  As you can see, we received many donations and this family is going to have a wonderful celebration.  Thank you Kathy Burtram for letting us know about this family in need.

Polaris Star Students

This week’s students that were honored for their acts of kindness were: Alec, Andrew, Evan, Georgia, and Tyler.  In addition, Mrs. Post gave special recognition to her entire class for being so kind and helpful to each other.

Recycle your shoes!
We’ve teamed up with ShoeBox Recycling to recycle shoes.  Bring in gently used, still wearable shoes for collection.  The shoes get sent to micro businesses in developing countries for sale in second hand markets and the PEF gets a donation for every box of shoes we sent in.  The shoes stay out of landfills, small merchants get helped, and we get a donation: everybody wins!  You don’t have to just bring your own shoes, feel free to collect shoes from friends and family as well.  The collection box will be at the base of the rear stairs.  We’ll be sending in the shoes in late January. Please Click Here to see the flyer for information about what shoes they do and do not accept.

Gingerbread Houses

The primary students gathered together to make gingerbread houses.  The students showed wonderful creativity and were so well-behaved in all the excitement!
