Week Ending 10/11/13

Polaris Star

NECAP testing has proceeded smoothly.  We will have our last math session next Tuesday from 9:15-10:45 and on Wednesday and Thursday 5th graders will take the Writing test from 10:00-11:30.  Please make every effort to have your child attend school. All tests need to be completed by October 23rd. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to help take the children to the park after testing.  Ninety minutes is a long time to sit quietly and the kids have really needed that time to expend some energy.

Day of Unity

IMG_1239Morning Gathering on Wednesday  was a sea of orange.  Polaris students and staff came together as a community to show that we stand united against bullying. Did you know that in 88% of bullying incidents there are bystanders. In 90% of these incidences when the bystander speaks up, the bullying stops.

Congratulations to Marx Burtram, Shea Champman, Mayla Dumais, Natalie Mellina, Giuliana Normandin and Allison Turcotte for being selected as this week’s star students.  They all showed what it meant to  be a helpful member of their classroom community.

Welcome Mrs. Mathieu

Michelle Mathieu

Michelle Mathieu

Michelle Mathieu is thrilled to join Polaris Charter School as Administrative Assistant.  She earned her Bachelor’s in Environmental Conservation and her Master’s in Education at the University of New Hampshire.  She began her professional life as an 8th-grade science teacher.  After a period of travel, Ms. Mathieu entered the business world as the Office Manager and Executive Assistant in a fast paced sales office.  While stepping outside the professional world to raise her children, Ms. Mathieu ran her own business teaching music and creative movement classes to young children throughout south-central NH.  Now, she is excited to weave this varied background together to benefit the entire Polaris community.  Outside work, Ms. Mathieu loves to spend time “hanging out” with her husband and two daughters, Julianna and Sarah.
