Welcome Mrs. Christine Fulford!
Mrs. Christine Fulford has joined us as an Educational Leader and Consultant. Mrs. Fulford comes to us from SERESC, one of the leading educational consulting companies in the Northeast. She has a Masters in Educational Leadership and is currently pursuing her CAGS in Leadership and Curriculum Assessment. While Ms. Fulford’s face may be new to our students, she has been a friend to Polaris since our founding. She has served on the school’s Academic Excellence Committee, has assisted our teachers and former Directors with our computer learning programs, and recently completed training with our staff on “twice exceptional” students. Mrs. Fulford was also part of the first two years at VLACS and was previously a teacher of mathematics at the Academy for Science and Design.
A significant amount of money was found in one of our classrooms. Please contact us at 634-0034 if you think it might belong to you or your child.
Polaris Star Students
Congratulations to Maliha Ahmad, Ethan Dudley, Connor Duggan, Lasya Chavadam, Jesse Clough, Crosby Nolan and Andrew Veit for being selected as this week’s Polaris Star Students!
Reminders for Parents
At pick-up/drop off, please do not go around cars that are parked with their hazards on. There have been several near collisions when a car is trying to pull out and another is going around. It also makes it difficult for the thru traffic, particularly in the morning. Please be aware if there are cars waiting behind you and pull up as quickly as you can.
- If there is no adult at the curb at drop off, please do not let your children out of their cars. Occasionally, only one staff member will be available to escort children into school. We try to keep the size of groups reasonable for safety reasons. We will return to the curb as quickly as possible so please be patient with us.zzzz
- Next Saturday, October 5th from 1:00-4:00 is our 2nd Annual North Star Gift Bazaar. There will be crafts to make and take, unique gifts to purchase and a fire truck will be visiting.z
- We are participating in the Hannaford Helps Schools program. From September 1 to December 1, 2013, purchase participating products in the , and you’ll earn “school dollars” that we can use to purchase whatever we need most! Every store will grant an additional $1,000 to the school in their area that earns the most money. BUY 4 PARTICIPATING PRODUCTS and receive 3 school dollars at the register. Send the school dollars in to school.
Beginning on October 3rd, work will begin on the first stage of our playground development. The dirt is going to be removed and wood chips will be installed. We will be unable to have outdoor recess Thursday and Friday.
Original Works Art
We are pleased to announce that during the month of October 2013 we will be running the Original Works Program at Polaris Charter School.
In business since 1989, Original Works is the #1 art based fundraising company in the country, and currently works with thousands of schools and hundreds of thousands of students each year.
Through the Original Works program, each child will have the opportunity to have their very own artwork reproduced onto a variety of high quality products. The products range from magnets, mugs and mouse pads, to ceramic tiles, t-shirts, note cards and nearly two dozen other products.
Each child is eligible to participate in this wonderful program. The children will do their project during Art class on the 3rd and 10th of October. Once the artwork is created, parents and children will have the opportunity to select which product or products they would like to feature their artwork. The program is designed to encourage creativity and student self-esteem. The resulting products make unique gifts that are practical for any season or occasion.
Complete details on the program will be sent home shortly. Proceeds from the program will be used to help fund the playground and field trips. For more information on Original Works please visit their website at http://www.originalworks.com
